Privacy

This page says what personal information we collect when you use idxFlowers, why, where it's kept, and how to see or correct it. idxFlowers is run by IDXDIRECTORIES LIMITED, a New Zealand company, owned by a small family.

This website

  • We measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics: page views, page speed and rough location by country. It sets no cookies and doesn't identify you.
  • Our host, Cloudflare, keeps server logs for security and to keep the site running.

Our query service for AI assistants

When an AI assistant asks our query service a question, we record:

  • the time, which question type was used, and its settings (for example a suburb, a colour or a budget)
  • any free-text question, after we try to remove names, phone numbers, email addresses and street addresses before it is stored (this is automatic and may occasionally miss something)
  • the name of the assistant's software
  • a scrambled code made from the internet address, which changes every day. We never store the address itself.

We use this to improve the answers, to see which questions people ask, and to spot bulk copying. We don't sell it, and we don't use it to identify anyone.

Links to florists

Links to a florist's or organiser's website, and to a florist's bouquet, pass through our server on the way (they start with mcp.idxflowers.com/go/). It counts the click and sends you straight on. We record the time, which florist or organiser (and which bouquet, if it's a bouquet link), whether the link came from this website or an AI assistant's answer, the same daily-changing scrambled code as above, and whether the visit looks like a person's browser or an automated program. We never store your internet address, and we can't see anything you do on the other website. The link is tagged so the florist or organiser can see the visit came through idxFlowers.

Florists

  • The florist details we show are business information from each florist's own website: its name, area, website, delivery fees and terms, and bouquets. We don't publish florists' phone numbers or email addresses. To keep our information accurate, we also analyse florists' published product photos internally (for example, to recognise the flowers in a bouquet); we never show, share or keep copies of those photos. Some florists trade under a person's name; we show the business as it presents itself, and only its suburb, never a home street address.
  • We use these details to run idxFlowers's services: showing florists to people and AI assistants looking for flowers, sending buyers, enquiries and orders to them, telling florists how often they were shown or chosen, and contacting florists about their listing and our services.
  • Florists can also tell us things their website doesn't say, such as weekend delivery arrangements. We show those as confirmed by the florist, with the date, and use them in the same way.
  • Florists can check their listing through a private link we send them. Its form asks for an optional first name and a message, which we keep so we can act on the request and reply.
  • When we contact a florist, we keep a record of when we contacted them, what they told us and whether they'd rather not hear from us again. That opt-out list is kept so we never contact them again.

Requests for help finding a florist

If you use our request form, we keep what you tell us (what you need, where, when, your name, email and company) to answer it. We share your request with the florists we suggest, so they can help you, and with no one else. We delete requests 12 months after the last contact about them, or sooner if you ask.

Emails

If you email us, we use your email to reply and keep it as long as needed for that.

Where it's kept, and for how long

  • Our host (Cloudflare), our database provider and our email provider (Google Workspace) may store this information outside New Zealand.
  • Question and click records are kept for up to 2 years, then deleted. Florists' listing requests are kept while the listing exists.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. Email us and we'll respond within 20 working days, as the Privacy Act 2020 requires. If you're not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

What we don't collect
