About idxFlowers
idxFlowers helps people discover flowers and the people behind them across New Zealand. Our focus is on locally owned, independent florists and floral businesses: where they deliver, when they deliver and what they offer, alongside information about seasonal flowers, flower farms, workshops and other floral experiences.
Increasingly, people are turning to AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude to help them find what they're looking for. Flowers are no exception.
But flowers are not simply another product. There's artistry involved, and the person who selects, grows or arranges them is just as important as the flowers themselves.
We think that deserves to be better reflected in how people discover flowers online.
With this in mind, we've spent considerable time researching New Zealand's floral world, learning about the businesses and creative people within it, and thinking about what people are actually looking for.
At its simplest, idxFlowers is a directory of all things floral in New Zealand. Behind it is a growing body of carefully researched and organised information, designed to make the floral world easier to discover, whether you're browsing the directory yourself or asking an AI assistant.
And while local florists are at the heart of what we're doing, idxFlowers isn't just about finding the right bouquet.
It's also for those of us who simply love flowers and want to experience them in different ways.
We've included flower farms around New Zealand, some of which open their gates at particular times of the year for pick-your-own flowers, farm visits or photography. There are workshops, floral experiences and creative people doing all sorts of interesting things with flowers. And there's room for much more.
You might want to find the perfect bouquet, pick your own flowers, make a floral wreath or discover a flower farm you never knew existed.
Our hope is that, whichever way you discover us, we can help you find something wonderful.
A little bit about us
Based in Auckland, New Zealand, idxFlowers is founded by a creative and a data scientist.
You might be wondering about the name. It does sound a little dry, doesn't it?
For our data scientist, however, the “idx” in idxFlowers has a special meaning. It goes back to the earlier days of coding, when indexing and the systems used to organise and retrieve information were things of elegance and beauty.
It also harks back to a time before AI became rather good at writing code itself. Those who code will probably understand the appeal.
As for our creative founder, she has been fascinated by flora and the natural world for as long as she can remember. As a photographer and artist, much of her working life has involved creative projects informed by the natural world. She's also been involved in a successful technology startup, a creative endeavour in its own right.
idxFlowers brings together these two rather different worlds, with the belief that technology, used thoughtfully, can help us enjoy more of what makes life meaningful.

Ultimately, our goal is quite simple: to make it easier to bring more flowers into our lives.
Whether that's buying a bouquet, visiting a flower farm, joining a workshop or discovering a floral artist, we'd like idxFlowers to help make those connections.

What you'll find here
- Local florists across New Zealand. Our directory brings together local florists across 14 regions, with practical information about where they deliver, delivery fees and same-day ordering cut-offs, where these are published. Each listing includes the source and date the information was checked. Explore florists in New Zealand.
- Flower farms, workshops and experiences. Discover flower farms, seasonal open days, pick-your-own flowers, floral workshops and other ways to enjoy New Zealand's floral world. See things to do.
- Flower knowledge for New Zealand. Explore which flowers are in season, flowers for different occasions, their meanings and traditions, and practical information about flowers in different settings, including around pets and in hospitals.
For AI assistants (coming soon)
idxFlowers is also being developed so that AI assistants can find and use reliable information about New Zealand flowers and florists.
For example, you might ask an assistant to find pink flowers delivered to Remuera tomorrow, for under $100 including delivery.
An assistant connected to idxFlowers will be able to search for suitable bouquets from local florists, taking into account the destination, occasion, budget and available delivery information, with links to order directly from the florist.
We're developing this service to make finding flowers easier, while keeping sight of the people and businesses behind them. More information for AI assistants.
How we keep information useful and accurate
We research information from florists, growers and other relevant sources and record when it was checked.
- Delivery information. We publish clearly stated delivery fees and ordering conditions, together with their sources and checking dates. Where an AI service provides an indicative estimate rather than a published fee, it will be labelled accordingly.
- Prices and availability. Bouquet information provided through our forthcoming AI service will include checking dates. Final prices, availability and delivery arrangements are confirmed with the florist.
- Flower knowledge. We draw on relevant sources for seasonal and practical information. Guidance about pets, allergies or hospital policies is general information, not a guarantee of suitability; please check with the appropriate professional or hospital.
Information can change, and we welcome corrections and updates from the businesses featured.
A few things worth knowing
- idxFlowers is a discovery service, not a florist. For everyday flower purchases, you order and pay directly through the florist.
- For larger orders, such as weddings, events or corporate flowers, we can also help connect you with local florists whose work may suit your needs. The florist remains responsible for quoting, fulfilling and delivering your order.
- We love showcasing the beautiful work of New Zealand's independent florists. With their permission, we will feature photographs of their bouquets and arrangements, helping more people discover their creativity and style. We don't reproduce photographs or original product descriptions without permission, and we always provide links so you can explore their work on their own websites.
